În primul weekend din luna februarie a anului 2016, am unit o echipa fantastica “Apetit Catering” într-un teambuilding (având ca temă „"Pirates and Treasure Island").
After a detailed needs analysis together with the manager of Apetit Catering, Dorina Clonda, we decided that the teambuilding activities would be based on two main elements: communication and fun. After understanding the company's objectives (by the way, the people at Apetit make brilliant food, I recommend them wholeheartedly... I didn't think a catering company had dieticians, but it was new information, which pleasantly surprised me), I began my odyssey into the pirate universe! 🙂
On a beautiful Saturday morning, we set off with the materials that filled the trunk and headed to Băile Felix-Oradea. The hotel has three swimming pools, where we continued to have "water fights". Pool activities were something new for us, but for a long time I wanted to swim in a pool and say that I work. 😉
We checked in, prepared the island, and met the Apetit team, who were about to transform into fearsome pirates. It's a pleasure to see Gen Xers dressing up the Baby Boomers as Captain Jack Sparrow, choosing the pirate princess, and building the team flag together. Although I often see communication problems between the two generations, with a little effort, the transfer of experience and understanding can be the main factor in overcoming communication barriers.
In the second activity, we moved on to more serious things. Participants learned completely new things about their colleagues through a “verbal confrontation,” an exercise designed to promote communication and eliminate any accumulated tensions. They told us that they couldn’t believe they had seen a completely different side of old colleagues! It’s interesting how, once put in a context other than work, people already end up communicating more effectively.
Finally, we made it to the indoor thermal pool… which was surprisingly full, but we were prepared with a back-up plan. So, in the evening around 6:00 PM, we moved outside to 2aC. The water in the outdoor pool was warm, so for an hour we had fun with activities finding clues for hidden treasures. It was harder when we had to get out of the pool, but the adventure was incredible! Congratulations to both captains for coordinating the crews!
We ended the evening with a treasure hunt and communication exercises. At first, we felt a certain tension, but, in a relaxed context, the Apetit Catering team members successfully addressed personal and professional topics and problems. After two long hours of seriousness, the party started until the early morning!
Positive feedback and the fact that we have helped team members unite and have fun together is why we find great pleasure in organizing teambuildings. We do it with passion and care. We think about our own needs, apply principles from psychology and group psychotherapy and…have fun!
Congratulations to the Apetit Catering team for the progress made and thank them for wanting us to join them in this adventure!
PS Captain, I didn't cheat! :))
