Since globalization and, implicitly, the appearance of corporations on the Romanian market, team building activities have become increasingly fashionable. Some companies organize their own team building, others turn to companies that specialize in organizing such indoor and outdoor programs and activities, such as our team, those at WorkTeamFun. We believe that such a social activity, such as team building, is very important and beneficial in many aspects, regardless of whether we are talking about a corporation or a smaller company.
First of all, team building is a social activity. It is a program designed to build teams and improve the quality of relationships between employees. The games and programs teach participants how to take on certain roles, how to make decisions in a team, and how to take responsibility for the decisions made. All of these skills are absolutely necessary in any work team. In fact, the purpose of the entire program is to increase team performance.
Team building helps to adopt a positive attitude at work, which results in the possibility of managing any type of conflict and also helps to increase the confidence and empathy of the participants. During and after the activities in which they take part, each participant begins to feel attached to the group and the organization, a sense of belonging appears, which is very beneficial for increasing the quality of work. An emotionally involved employee will always give more than is asked of him. He will go to work with pleasure and the efficiency of his work will increase in the medium and long term.
Because the activities are carried out only and only in teams, employees begin to know each other better, new friendships appear and the effort made by each one in order to achieve the goals, begins to be felt at a lower level. Basically, a feeling of trust appears, everyone knows that they can rely on an entire team and are not left alone in the face of difficulties or situations that require decision-making under time pressure. This increases team cohesion.
Not only team buildings but indoor and outdoor activities in general, have the power to take employees out of their daily routine and motivate them to continue the effort put into ongoing projects, helping them overcome the feeling of plateauing that we are all very familiar with. Only when you do something with love and full of motivation, can you carry out your activity to your true potential. And who doesn't like to have a little fun with colleagues, forget about projects for a few days and take part in fun activities that have the power to value the creativity and skills of each of the participants?
Our advice for team leaders or coordinators is to take their employees to team building at least once a year. It will be an investment in people, an investment that will bring with it numerous benefits in the medium and long term!
